What to look for in a Real Estate Agent?
Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest milestones you will reach in your lifetime. Not only is it a major life decision, it could possibly be the largest financial transaction you’ll ever make. It’s a time of excitement with ups and downs, with many stressful and complex steps. Choosing the right real estate professional can be the difference in a smooth transaction vs. a stressful situation.
How do you go about choosing the right real estate agent? What should you look for to make sure they’re a right fit for you? Here’s what we think are some of the most important characteristics and qualities you should look for when choosing an agent.
Experienced & Knowledgeable
We all know knowledge is power, but experience is worth its weight in gold. As with most professions, there’s a learning curve that agents experience throughout the start of their career. More experience translates to better knowledge and in the end, better results for you.
Personable
The real estate agent is not only working with you, they are also involved with others throughout the transaction. You’ll want someone who is personable and skilled at working with others. If you sense a personality conflict when you meet with a real estate agent, it’s best to choose someone else that you are comfortable with.
Available
You’ll need a good amount of communication with your potential agent. It would be wise to verify if they are a full-time agent vs a part-time agent, who may have other responsibilities utilizing their time.
